Bulgaria Missions Strategy

5 Year Goals

1. Help several local churches become resource centers that will advance the Kingdom in Bulgaria and beyond.
2. Develop and demonstrate models of success for redeeming the lives of orphans and underprivileged children that can be replicated elsewhere. Convince local churches that they have a Biblical responsibility to care for widows, orphans, and the poor.
3. Impact the lives of targeted young people in Bulgaria, helping prepare them for leadership roles in transforming their country for Christ, including planting churches.

Strategy to Achieve the Goals

1. We will consciously develop strong relationships with our local church partners through cluster team interactions, youth exchanges, working together on orphan ministries, and Shakaba. We will help them grow and expand their influence as Kingdom resource centers.
2. We will create mechanisms to interact with the Novo Selo orphanage, and other specific orphanages, on a consistent and regular basis to deepen relationships with the children, teachers, and administrators. This will ensure follow up to mission team visits, and provide accountability.
3. Find alternatives to the current orphanage system – share with local churches, organizations, and individual Christians.
4. Working with the Global Family and our own youth at Calvary, we will develop deeper and more meaningful relationships with targeted youth in Bulgaria. Our focus will be on those currently active in significant ministries, who we and our local partners feel are future leaders.
5. We will work with the Star of Hope Foundation, and other targeted non-government organizations (NGOs), to learn from them, and to help them have greater impact serving orphans and the underprivileged.

Key Next Steps

1. Continue to expand the impact of Gayton and Amanda Liter as missionaries to Bulgaria, focused on orphan ministries and strengthening families.
2. Establish regular follow up with the Novo Selo and other orphanages through Gayton and Amanda.
3. Plan mission trips for 2010 and beyond, involving multiple age groups, which are strategic in tying their goals to the Bulgaria strategy. Include the option of Bulgarians coming to the US, as well as vice versa.
4. Work with our Bulgarian partners to plan upcoming youth interactions that will be smaller, but hopefully deeper and more meaningful.
5. Reinvigorate adult mission teams coming to Bulgaria.
