The Armor of God
Spark programs starting July 14th and running through August 25th will lead into a new season for our kids as God calls them into His army! It’s such a vital part of their development that we have decided to carry the theme throughout our Sunday program this summer as well as in this year’s VBS.
Our students will be challenged to learn all about each component of God’s armor and how it protects them and helps them to serve others! Lessons will be combined with worship, Bible truths and stories, crafts, skits, and lots of challenging, fun games as we explore what God’s army really looks like!
Topics covered are found in Ephesians 6:10-18: the Belt of Truth, the Breastplate of Righteousness, the Shoes of the Gospel of Peace, the Shield of Faith, the Helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit. But it won’t be all serious army stuff! It’s going to get whacky…there might be some water involved…perhaps some worms and dirt! We will be roping off a segment of the parking lot for some outdoor games and even a cook out. Notices will soon be sent home with some basic guidelines. If your child has camouflage clothing, we encourage them to wear it when they attend. It adds to the reality of Army life! Heads up though.. make sure you pack an extra set of clothes just in case!
We encourage you to allow your child(ren) to participate this summer in as many program days as possible. At the end of the summer, they will have made for themselves a full armor if they have participated in every session. August 25th will mark our final lesson on this series and that means PARTY time! We will be taking pictures of the kids in their armor (which they get to take home that day!) You can thank me later!
Special Kid Buck Awards will be given to students that memorize and can explain Ephesians 6:10-18. Let’s partner together to make sure this summer is one your child will not forget!
