Letters from God
We all get mail, most of it junk. But every now and then we get something really important. Not important like a letter from the IRS is important, but important in the sense that it is valued, personal, uplifting or plain kind. Those are not common or everyday events. So we all understand the place of mail in our lives. In our new series “letters” we will be looking into two of the greatest letters we have from God; the 10 Commandments (Exodus 20) and the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7). One was written on stone but intended for the heart and the other was verbal and also intended for the heart, but also intended to carry the spiritual weight of something written by the hand of God, as were the original 10 Commandments.
Any letter from God has got to be important! SURELY? Over the next few weeks our preaching team will be looking into these and other aspects of what God has written to His people. As our Heavenly Father, His words are there to guide, inspire, correct, save and equip us for life – both here and in eternity. While that is true, it is up to us to take these words and use then as bricks to build a solid house that will stand when the storms and floods come our way. We are to build on the rock that is Christ our Savior, Lord and King.
