LIVE The Gospel!!!
As we gear up for this month of “March Madness” talking about evangelism I’d like to spend my time writing blog entries that either give you keys/tips to help you more effectively share your faith and the Gospel in your schools. Some of them will be my own, others will be from websites/articles/videos that I think are appropriate. If you have a question or need let me know and i’d love to write a response to equip and encourage you to LIVE OUT the Gospel.
Today, i’m gonna begin with my first key, and this one is courtesy of Dare2Share:
Key 1: Pray Publicly
For most teenagers I talk to, this seems to be a tough one, which makes sense because every time we stop to pray when others could be watching, we immediately stick out. Others notice. We like to be noticed for favorable things, such as performing well in a game or being amazingly good looking, but we’re not as excited to be noticed for things that people question or are unsure about. Praying in public sends a clear message that we’re not ashamed to be associated with Christ (Matthew 10:23; Luke 8:38; Luke 9:26) and gives our testimony a foundation for spiritual conversations because it’s almost like people begin to expect that we talk about God since it’s obviously so important to us.
The next time you’ve got a study hall or break, or you’ve even finished doing all your work in class, spend some time in prayer. Pray for the people in your class, your school, opportunities to share your faith etc. You’ll be amazed at how God will answer your prayers. At first, people might look at you funny (who cares, right??!! If one person is drawn to God because of you praying ITS TOTALLY WORTH IT!) but this action might give you an opportunity to have a spiritual conversation with someone.
Remember this promise: “So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 10:32-33
