This morning after reading Genesis 17 & 18 I was reminded that God is not afraid of impossible, in fact, doing the impossible is exactly what God majors in.  In this specific story God promises Sarah (Abraham’s wife) a son.  Now let’s remember that Sarah and Abraham were very old at this point, and well…nature had taken it’s course and falling pregnant would have to be…let’s say…a miracle.  Sarah responds to this prophecy in a way that is so similar to how we respond to so many situations everyday, she says,  “So she laughed silently to herself and said, “How could a worn-out woman like me enjoy such pleasure, especially when my master—my husband—is also so old?” (Genesis 18:12).  She thinks…”That’s IMPOSSIBLE!”  And, that’s exactly where God steps in…

But I love what the Lord says to Sarah in Genesis 18:14, “Is anything too hard for the Lord?”  You see, where you see impossibility – God sees opportunity.  God’s power is not restricted by human capabilities.  God’s actions on earth are not submitted to human reasoning.  If God created the universe and everything in it (which He did), then He can do whatever he wants with His creation.  Miracles are not hard work for God, they are merely a thought away.

If someone says to you, “That’s impossible!” you need to be thinking, “Perfect, just the right size for God!”

I think sometimes we don’t dream big enough for God.  We dream within our means – what we can do on our own and forget who God is and what He’s capable of.  Don’t limit God by your small thinking, bite-size, ordinary dreams.  He is a God who, “..is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20) He is a God who laughs at impossible.

What situation are you facing that seems impossible?  What are you asking for?  Give it to God and watch how the impossible is accomplished, because to God impossible is nothing!
